Today It Rains!!
One of the amusing things about living in L.A. is the news coverage of rain. Rain's a big deal here. The news stations will post a rain slicker-bedecked reporter in Glendale, in Malibu, and in Hollywood, will go live to each and every one of them, and all three of them will say something to the effect of, "So-and-so, it's raining here in Glendale! The streets are wet! Back to you in the studio!" and then they'll go to the Hollywood guy, and he'll say something to the effect of, "So-and-so, it's raining here in Hollywood! The streets are wet! Back to you in the studio!" and so on. And they'll talk about it for the next 10 minutes, reporting the rain as news. The rain is wet, it's falling in droplets, it's coming down, etc.
The only news-worthy thing about rain in this area is when it causes mudslides. That's it. So they will inevitably go to another live reporter in a rain slicker in Burbank, position said reporter by a house on a hill, and say something to the effect of, "Right now this house is safe, but if L.A. county gets another inch of this rain, all bets are off and this house could come sliding right on down this hill. Back to you in the studio!"
