Some More Bitching
How come Congress is making sense now?
I know I keep harping on this, and my harping will not change the course of events since we invaded Iraq, but how how how could they have authorized this president to go to war on such ridiculous and tenuous "evidence?" I just can't wrap my brain around it.
And where the hell was Hagel then, huh?! I mean he made so much sense today! Where the hell was he four fuckin' years ago?! Where were any of them?! It's that same b.s. I hear belching out of Hilary Clinton's mouth almost every damn day of my life: "if we had known then what we know now, we never would have authorized the president to go to war. We were lied to!"
Oh jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez. I swear if she says it one more goddamn motherfucking time I'm going to ...well, I'm going to stew some more and probably post another stupid blog. I apologize in advance.
From MSNBC:
Hagel’s remarks were among the most impassioned of the day, and he was unstinting in his criticism of the White House.
“There is no strategy,” he said of the Bush administration’s war management. “This is a pingpong game with American lives. These young men and women that we put in Anbar province, in Iraq, in Baghdad are not beans; they’re real lives. And we better be damn sure we know what we’re doing, all of us, before we put 22,000 more Americans into that grinder.”
A Vietnam veteran, he fairly lectured fellow senators not to duck a painful debate about a war that has grown increasingly unpopular as it has gone on. “No president of the United States can sustain a foreign policy or a war policy without the sustained support of the American people,” Hagel said.
So I guess the 3000 other American lives were beans, and the Iraqis were/are beans too? Hmm. Beans.
